Once we left, we quickly realized the refrigerator wasn’t working….the key component we needed as we would be sitting in 110• plus heat the next 4 days (& needing to keep water cold and kids hydrated)! A mechanic was contacted but never showed. We were made to feel as if we “could’ve just changed our trip time down there in order for their local guy to reach us,” it wouldn’t have been an issue. On top of that, the door kept flying open during the trip, causing stuff to fly/spill everywhere!:( We had to purchase two coolers in order to keep things chilled, defeating purpose of RV fridge. We returned home 3 days early! No compensation and still made to feel as if they hadn’t “rushed to deliver it to us early (3:00….which is actual delivery time listed in contract anyhow), they wouldn’t have hurried thru the car wash where water was sprayed into the fridge tube causing the issue!” Overall, it was NOT anything we hoped for &/or expected:( This is the first review I’ve ever written and it truly pains me to do so!
Vehicle was very clean, never been smoked or cooked inside very friendly people to work with, will come back soon again for another trip.
My wife and I originally planned a Bahamas cruise to celebrate our wedding that we had on February 20, 2021 but because of the world COVID crisis the cruise was canceled and so we made plans to rent a motor home and travel to a few states to visit family and the Grand Canyon in celebration of our marriage ..The Honeymoon!. We made arrangements with American Adventures RV Rentals to rent the 2018 Coachman Leprechaun 310 HH-X Lia #110 for 7 days from Feb 25 to March 4. DAY 1: Our 1st stop of the honeymoon would be in New Mexico to visit our Grandchildren and the motor home that we rented for a week had room to sleep 10 which would have accommodated our grandchildren and other guest while we were in New Mexico for 2 days. The very 1st day of our trip we arrived in NM on Thursday Feb 25th, we set "camp" up in the parking lot of our daughters complex just to find out that the heater in our rented camper did not work (not a good start of a 7 day RV trip with cold nightly temps). I texted the "emergency" number that was given to me for American Adventures (AA) at 7:38 pm to inform them of the problem with the heater and received no response. So at 7:44 I called Coachnet which was an emergency help service that I paid extra for at the time of booking the RV with AA to see if they were able to help me. I was told they they would not be able to get anyone out to me until the next day ... so my newly wed wife and I prepared ourselves for a cold 1st night on our honeymoon .. it got down to 17 degrees that night. DAY 2: Our second day started with me speaking to Coachnet at 8:52 AM to figure out who in the area could fix the Rented RV's heater since in our previous days conversation Coachnet mentioned that there were 2 local repair shops that would open at 9 AM. After figuring out which repair shop would be able to help I then called AA's emergency number at 9:03 AM and got ahold of Karen and was able to finally verbally explain to her that the heater was not working and updated her on my conversations with Coachnet and that I was about to drive the RV to the repair shop to get fixed. At that time I was assured by Karen that she would take care of the cost to repair. Well, after hanging up with Karen I go to try to start the RV and it does not start. So now I'm not able to drive the RV to the shop to get the heater repaired because its not starting. So at 9:08 AM I call Coachnet again to tell them that I now need someone to come out to get the motorhome started so I can make my way to the repair shop to look at 2 issues with the RV. Coachnet instructs me that they will send a rescue vehicle out in a couple of hours. I then called AA emergency number back at 9:12 AM and spoke to Karen just to keep her up to date on what was going on. The rescue vehicle arrived in about 2 hours and found out that the vehicle did start because of a dead vehicle battery, he gave me a jump and away I went to the repair shop. Because we were at my daughters/grandchildren home my wife stayed there while I went to get the RV fixed. At 11:03 Am I called AA/Karen and left a voice mail letting her know that they got the RV started and I was on my way to the repair shop and would keep her updated. At 12:06 Pm I then called AA/Karen to let her know that the repair shop had asked me who would be providing payment since they knew it was a rental and I told them that American Adventure would be and I gave them AA's number so for AA to be expecting a phone call to discuss payment. I waited at the repair shop until about 3:24 pm because that is when I called AA and this time I spoke to an employee by the name of Cory and he informed me that Karen could not come to the phone because "she was driving" so I informed him that the issue with the heater was the ignitor and the repair shop would have to overnight the part but the part would not arrive until the next day after 5PM problem with that was the repair shop would be closing at 5 and would not open till the following Monday and my wife and I had plans to leave NM for the Grand Canyon early Sunday morning .. so that was not an option. That's when I knew I had to think of other alternative in keeping my wife and myself warm for the duration of the honeymoon/trip. So I decided that space heaters would probably work best and luckily there was a Walmart just 2 blocks from the shop that I was able to drive the RV to to obtain a couple of space heater. For reasons I discovered later, Walmart only had 2 different kinds of space heaters, they had a small 1 foot desk top heater and a small ceramic heater. I bought one of each not knowing which would work best heating a 30 foot RV. As I got back to the RV in Walmart's parking lot ... The RV DID NOT START. At 3:48 PM I call the repair shop to tell then that the RV was dead in the water again and I was just 2 blocks away .. they came right over, jumped me and I drove back to their shop. That's when they then checked the RV's main battery and found out that it was a bad battery and suggested that it be replaced. At 4:17 PM I texted pictures of the old battery (which looks "old and neglected") to the AA "emergency number" and in the text informed AA that they would be receiving a call from the repair shop soon after for payment of the new battery. Imagine my puzzlement when the repair shops office informed me that they were not able to get ahold of anyone at AA for payment...I felt as if I were left out in the cold to fend for myself (literally huh). I ended up paying for the battery costing me $172.27. I then called AA's "emergency number and it went to voice mail and I informed them that I paid for the battery because the repair shop was not able to get ahold of anyone at AA to take payment and I would present AA the receipt when I returned back to Texas. So I finally get back to my daughters and Grandchildren's place so I can FINALLY get the chance to visit with them. As I set up the RV in the parking lot I start the 2 space heaters in the RV to knock the chill off while I go in to visit. When I go back out to see how well they are working I find out that the 2 LITTLE heaters did nothing at all to take the chill off and it was still day light out with night to come. So I close up the RV to leave my wife, daughter and grandkids AGAIN to see if I can find any bigger heaters to keep the RV warm that night since my wife and I had planned on having the kids sleep with us in the RV that night which was expected to drop into the teens again that night. I returned the 2 heaters I got at Walmart and starting searching other stores Home depot, Lowes, Target and a 2nd Walmart and NOBODY except that one Walmart had space heaters and I was told they were on a shortage because of the recent cold spell so everyone was sold out. So I went BACK to the Walmart that I 1st bought the 2 different space heaters and purchased 2 of the desktop, one foot heaters because they at least had a fan built in them so I can force air the direction of heat flow. That cost me $71.19. So all together I am $243.45 out of pocket and a miserable honeymoon/family visit/trip. Later that night we discovered the 2 little heaters did nothing, once again, to heat the RV and the RV started to get so cold that my wife and I decided not have the grandbabies sleep in it so we had to disappoint them and tell them that they would have to sleep in their own beds that night So once again my wife and I slept in a freezing RVe, with lots of clothes on. DAY 3: Since we were only on day 3 of 7 I knew we were going to have other cold nights throughout the trip so I decided to go BACK to Walmart and look for either electric blankets or additional comforters.. Well because of the cold spell electric blankets were out of the question so I ended up purchasing additional quilts. I'm not going to go into the day in and day outs of the rest of the trip but I will say ALL nights were cold and uncomfortable. Fast forwarding to the day may wife and I get back to Texas to return the RV. Cory was the representative that we check the RV back in with and we informed him of our disappointment with the RV unit and also gave him a list of other things that was wrong with the unit such as the refrigerator not working on LP(gas) only on shore power causing us to lose all the frozen item in the freezer. The front Max Air vent in the front of the RV did not seal causing it to open while the RV was in motion (letting in cold air) to the massive steering wheel play which was about 10 to 20 degrees off (depending on slope of the rode and wind). Plus a list of other things that was expressed to Cory. I was told that he would speak to Karen and she would give me a call to discuss repayment of what I spent to keep their RV on the rode and my wife and I warm. We dropped the RV off on Thursday March 4th at about 10 AM. I waited until the following day Friday March 5th 12:44pm for a call back at which time I decided to call AA to see if I could speak to Karen then ...I spoke to Cory and he informed me that she was not in and he would pass the message over to her again for her to call me. Monday March 8th still no call back I decided to call hide my number and call AA at 1:26 PM and finally got to speak to Karen. Now this is the 1st time that I actually spoke to Karen since day 2 of the honeymoon, February 26th. At this time I was so disappointed at the customer service or lack there of that all I could speak of was the reimbursement of my out of pocket expensive. During the conversation with Karen I asked about her unfortunate fall she had and inquired on how she was doing but there was no mention or question on how disastrous our honeymoon trip was. She seemed only concerned about the total of out of pocket expense I had (which was given to Cory already) and even ask for me to write a review. Well today I received a check for EXACTALY what i was out of pocket of $ 243.46 and it even came in an envelope with a smiley face on it and a "thank you" ... so I'm doing what was asked of me by Karen and that is to write a review
